Many situations in life may cause a person to feel depressed
- FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY
- DIVORCE OR SEPERATION
- ALCOHOL OR DRUG ABUSE
- WORKPLACE BULLYING
Anyone one of us at any given time in life may become depressed.
As we go through life we are bound to experience disappointment, loss or suffering.Sometimes we may have financial difficulties; perhaps our children don't behave as we would want them too. It may be that our lives seem aimless and mundane. Life becomes overwhelming, we struggle to cope. We recognise we have difficulty in coping and may begin to experience shame. Our inner dialogue scolds us and becomes cruel and harsh. We begin to tell ourselves how awful we are Our mood begins to plummet and sometimes we may not see the point of going on We become anxious and nervous, begin to lack confidence. Sleeping difficulties may occur. Friends and family members tire of our moods and so we become isolated.
Recovery from depression is about learning to care for ourselves.
It is about learning to understand and value ourselves as human begins. We need to learn to treat ourselves with compassion and be done with treating ourselves with cruelty and harshness
