Recovery Principles
ACCEPTANCE:
Make peace with who you are.
Make peace with your past.
Make peace with your body size.
FLEXIABILITY:
All of life changes, nothing ever stays the same.Let go of rigidity.
HUMOUR:
We need fun, laughter and joy. It really is true “All work and no play make’s Jack a dull boy”.
EMPATHY:
We need to be able to listen and be empathic in order to connect and communicate with other people.
COMPASSION:
Compassion is a key component as we strive for recovery. It changes how we see ourselves; how we view other people and how we assess life situations.
EDUCATION:
We need to learn about nutrition and how best to nourish our body.
CREATIVITY:
Do something creative. Enjoy colour, enjoy nature, play an instrument, write a poem, design clothes, learn to knit, do something different with hair or nails.
MINDFULLNESS:
As we practice being in the present moment; we let go of our past and stop feeling anxious about the future. When we remain calm we are more in control.
STRESS MANAGEMENT:
Meditation and exercise are very beneficial for stress management
ENERGY:
Become aware of energy levels in your body
